Carla Sledge

Carla J. Sledge was born on March 27, 1953 to Selma Irene Clemons and Fred Clemons. Preceding her in passing are her mother, Selma Irene Clemons, father; Fred Clemons, and sisters; Cynthia Love and Freddie Clemons. A Toledo, Ohio native who relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois early in life, leaves an enormous hole in the lives of all she touched; whether it be friends, coworkers or her beloved family members. Carla was a graduate of E. St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School and subsequently Mildred Louise Business College. She entered the professional workforce at Mental Health of St. Clair County and Gateway Medical Center along with a career as an Executive Assistant with St. Louis University and Washington University. Carla was known as “Sister Sledge,”. A professional woman who always dressed to the nines who tackled anything this life threw her way. She will be dearly missed by all. Most recently Carla had relocated to Wichita, Kansas with her son Dion due to illness. She is survived by her son, Dion L. Sledge, sister; Annetta Clemons and brother Maurice Clemons
