Catherine King Jones

Catherine King Jones was born on September 9, 1933 to the union of Eugene and Willie King in East St. Louis, IL. Both her parents preceded her in death. Catherine attended the East St. Louis Public School System and graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School in 1951. She later attended University of Arkansas in Poplar Bluff, Arkansas. Catherine professed her faith and hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Pastor Bernard B. Haney at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, IL. She served the Lord well and was active in various ministries such as singing in the Mass Choir, the Altar Flower Guild, the Food Pantry and the Missionary Society. On August 26, 2017, Sister Jones joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. J. Kevin James Jr., M.Div. Catherine was united in marriage to William Jones (deceased) and to this union was born Adriene, Tracy and Katherine. Catherine retired from employment with Carter Carburetor in St. Louis, Missouri. Family was the pivotal essence of Catherine’s life. She enjoyed and loved being around her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost who treasured her four daughters and always wanted them around her. Her undying love and prayers were always for her grandchildren. She was affectionately called “GG” by her great grandchildren who swarmed around her like bees. They loved her playfulness, wit and humor. Throughout her entire life she LOVED her mother and two brothers, and the relationship she had with them was like none other. Catherine had a fun sense of humor and was known to be the life of family gatherings. She loved to cook, entertain, decorate, travel and take care of people whom she loved. God anointed Catherine with a very special gift. When friends or family members fell ill someone would say, “Did anyone call Cat?” They knew she was the one who was going to care for them even until their passing. This was her life’s mission. She had a servant’s heart and didn’t even know it. What an amazing woman!
