Dawonna Carniesha Smith affectionately known as “Cookie” was born October 13, 1988 in Centreville, IL. to Phyllis Williams and Dewayne Smith. She was the youngest of four girls. She was preceded in death by her father; Dewayne Smith, both maternal and paternal grandparents; Madeline Davis, Lois Ann and Lonnie Byrd.
Cookie attended the E. St. Louis school District 189 and graduated from Cahokia Sr. High School. She worked for Illinois Census for two years and later gained employment with O’Fallon McDonalds as a manager.
Cookie attended East Lively Stone Church under the leadership of The late Bishop Pitman as a young child. She submitted her life to Christ and found joy in singing, “This little light of Mine. Whenever in church attendance, Cookie would be heard singing this song and smiling. She would illuminate any room with her warm smile and outgoing personality. She knew how to add joy to your life!
Over the course of the years she fell in love with her high school sweet heart, Terry Williams Jr. and later in life they gave birth to an adorable son, Terry Dawayne “Rocko” Williams. He was truly her pride and joy. Cookie loved her dad so much she made sure that she added her dads name “Dawayne as part of her son name. She would always make sure that Rocko knew that he was the most handsome boy in the world.
Cookie loved being with her family and friends. She always dominated the card game at any family gatherings. Until this day she holds that title. Family was an important key, but her nieces and nephews were her top priority. The foundation for Cookie was her mom, Phyllis. Her mom called her “Chocolate chip.” She was always there for Cookie. Cookie drew her strength from her mom.
Cookie leaves to cherish her love, her heart; Terry D. Rocko Williams, her devoted mom; Phyllis (John) Cochrell of E. St. Louis, IL. One God brother Jospeh Maclin three sisters; Sheena Sheard of Sasebo, Japan, Rochelle Helm of Centreville, IL. and Crystal Williams of Madison, IL. three nieces; Mykel Battee, Gabrielle Nixon and Rhylei McGee. Four nephews; Quinton Jones, Jaylen Jordan, Quinterrous Jones, and Brandon Mapel. Her son’s Godmom; Tyra Walker, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousin’s other relatives and friends.
