Kevin Brooks Sr.

Mr. Kevin Brooks, Sr was born on July 30, 1963 to the union of Howard Brooks Jr and Mary Grafton Brooks in Centerville, Illinois. Kevin received his education from the East St Louis, IL School District 189, attending Dunbar Elementary School, King Junior High, and graduating from East St. Louis Sr High School in 1981. He received his BA in Accounting from The University of Phoenix in 2007 and began working on his Masters. Kevin served nine years in the United States Marine Corp., serving at various locations in the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, Camp Pendleton, CA, and Twentynine Palms, CA. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Marines in April 1991, Kevin began his employment with the Federal government in March 1992. He became employed with the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Englewood, Littleton, Colorado. He was a Material Handler Foreman and then UNICOR Contract Specialist. Kevin then promoted to Supervisory Contract Specialist at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, IL. Kevin was blessed again with a promotion as the Financial Manager at the FCI Greenville, in Greenville, IL. After 9/11, Kevin decided to change careers and transferred to Homeland Security as a Federal Air Marshal. After serving in this capacity for 10 ½ years in Chicago, Kevin transferred to the Department of Defense’s Contract Management Agency in St. Louis, MO. He took on the duties of a Cost Price Analyst and on August 30, 2013, Kevin received a law enforcement retirement. Kevin accepted Jesus as his Lord and Personal Savior in 2007. He was a member of the Grow 2 Go Christian Center in St. Louis, MO. Kevin enjoyed retirement. It allowed him the opportunity to spend more time with his wife and children, cook, and continue to travel. Kevin was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing the knowledge that he received with his family and friends. Kevin married Cordelia Malone Brooks on April 29, 1989, and to this union two children were born. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Cordelia of Glen Carbon, IL, three sons, Nouri Devon Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Brooks, Jr. of Glen Carbon, IL, and Courtney Brooks of Glen Carbon, IL; his mother, Mary Brooks, of Belleville, IL; four sisters, Karen Brooks, Sharon (Tony) Young, Angela James, all of Belleville, IL, and Felicia Lumas of Miami, FL; and one brother, Howard (Delphine) Brooks of Shiloh, IL.; his father and mother-in law, Rev. Thomas and Bertha Malone, of Edwardsville, IL, sisters and brothers-in-laws, Thomas (Judy) Malone, Jr., of Centennial, CO, JoAnn (Alvin) Barret, of Florissant, MO, Darnell Malone of Edwardsville, IL, Harriet Malone, of Florissant, MO, Ramona (Gregory) Dandridge, of Glen Carbon, IL, Veronica (Latour) Winston, of Ballwin, MO, Jason (Anna) Malone, of Glen Carbon, IL, and Rhoda (Mickey) Johnson, of Edwardsville, IL: and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved very dearly. Kevin’s father Howard Brooks, Jr. and brother Courtney Brooks proceeded him in death. Kevin was a very loving and kind-hearted person and was loved by so many. He will truly be missed!
