Odie B. Lee, Jr. was born on October 17, 1939 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He was one of two children born to the union of Estella and Odie B. Lee, Sr.
Odie was married to Carolyn Burris Lee on March 19, 1964 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were married 52 years. From this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Sherrita L. Lee and Patricia K. Lee-Walker, both of Collinsville, IL.
Odie graduated from Lincoln Sr. High School in East St. Louis, IL and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. Odie was an outstanding football player and track star, which is where he got the nickname “Cheetah” for his quick speed.
Odie had a long, distinguished career at Boeing in St. Louis, MO. He retired after nearly 35 years. Odie also served his country honorably for two years in the United States Army.
He spent his final years as a resident of the University Nursing and Rehab Center in Edwardsville, IL, where he received incredible care and was adored by staff members.
Odie had an outgoing personality, loved to laugh, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He had an affection for vintage cars, fancy clothes, action movies and good cooking.
Odie was preceded in death by his parents, Estella and Odie Bell Lee, Sr., sister; Cordelia Lee Perkins, niece; Anita Davis and nephew; Reginald Lee.
Odie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Carolyn Burris Lee, daughters; Sherrita L. Lee and Patricia K. Lee-Walker. His grandchildren, Paris Ervin Doyle (Terry), Christina Walker, and William Walker III and his great-grandson; Kaiden Doyle. He also leaves behind his niece; Cheryl Lee and nephew; Richard Lee, a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends, including Lloyd (Francis) Chatters, James Pirtle, James Lewis and Willie Pirtle, who have been loyal and devoted companions throughout his lifetime.
