Pauline Gaston was born to the late Eddie and Anner Rose Gaston on June 12, 1934 in Carbon Hill, Alabama. She was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, James Dunlap, Richard “Puddin” Dunlap and Joe Carter; six sisters, Willie Carter, Ruth Gaston, Minnie Gaston, Helen Kelly, Cora Dillard and Barbara Lane.
Pauline accepted Christ at an early age and attended First Baptist Church of Carbon Hill under the pastorage of the late Reverend B. J. Thomas. She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Obie Rush.
Pauline received her formal education from Dunbar High School in Carbon Hill, Alabama and was one of the star basketball players for the “Dunbar Wildcats”. She also attended A&M College in Alabama.
Pauline was employed as a retail salesperson for Lane Bryant Department Store of St. Louis. She was also a PDX operator for a hotel in Detroit, Michigan.
Pauline leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son, James Henry Gaston of Belleville, Illinois; one sister, Texanna “Sue” Gaston of East St. Louis, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
