On May 14, 1973 at 8:23 a.m. a lump of joy (Portia Lynette Adams) was born to Deborah M. Sawyer and Clent McCorkle in Christian Welfare Hospital, E. St. Louis, IL. She was preceded in death by her two great grandmothers, Odessa “Grandma” Lawrence and Mary “Mammie” Ward, great grandfather; King Solomon Adams Sr. grandfather; Wesley Jackson Sr. and one special aunt; Latrecha Francine Crumble.
Portia attended school in District 189 and later transferred to Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, MO. She was an honor student and enjoyed creative writing. In her spare time, she began to write a book called “Portia faces Life.” She was employed by, Unique Essentials and presently by Satisfied Towing. Portia was a member of, Set The Captive
Free Ministry Family under the leadership of Pastor Florida Graham Clark. Portia was a loving and sweet child. Her warm and beautiful smile was contagious to all who came around her. Portia had a charisma about her. She was such a humble child, she could get you to do almost anything.
She laved to cook and decorate. She was family oriented, loved her parents and children with such passion. She had a creative flare, loved fashion and design, she was a jokester and loved making others laugh. Weregonna miss you, the pain will never go away, your love will always stay.
